Community Gardening Volunteers in Clayton-le-Moors have received
specialist training on how to safely and correctly use the various hand tools
needed to care for community Green Spaces.
The volunteers from Mercer House 1842 spent the day in
Mercer Park using hedgetrimmers, blowers, strimmers and mowers under the careful watch of Gordon
Mason, Working Foreman with Hyndburn Council’s Parks Department.
Now the training is complete,
the volunteers will be out and about in the community ensuring that untidy and
poorly maintained areas can look good again.
Mercer House 1842 recently obtained funding from healthHeal
CIC with money raised through the Health Lottery to train up more volunteers as
part of the “It’s 4 Me @ the AWC project”.
